About the CPD Course

This practical workshop explores how singing can be used as a powerful starting point for secondary music learning. Participants experience active games and repertoire to develop rhythm' pulse and pitch' progressing from sound to symbol and on to Western stave notation. Strategies include body percussion' human and stick notation' hand stave work' and instrumental application on glockenspiels. The session models inclusive teaching approaches such as peer coaching and partner questioning to increase engagement and musical thinking. Afternoon content focuses on starting singing in Year 7' building part-singing skills' and selecting repertoire suitable for changing voices.
