The Anti-racism and mental health in schools e-learning is an entry level course for education staff. The content supports learners to understand the impact that racism may have on the mental health of Black and racially minoritised students and staff. Learn more about emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), and how to support students experiencing it. Government data on school attendance suggests that the numbers of children and young people with a record of severe and persistent absence from school has risen following the pandemic. Emotional, mental health or wellbeing issues can be significant barriers to school attendance. On this course, we will learn more about these factors and how they can contribute to poor attendance. We will also explore strategies that school staff can implement to support students experiencing emotionally based school avoidance.

This practical, accessible, two-day course combines educational and clinical expertise, using a robust evidence base, to give you the skills to implement an impactful and sustainable whole school or college approach. The course provides expert guidance from our trainers, opportunities for peer support and space for personal reflection. You will create and implement your own personalised plan for your school or college, learning how to overcome challenges in actioning it.
