The Parent Factor in ADHD' Facilitators 2 day training programme has been developed to provide practitioners with the skills, knowledge and resources (including a copy of the practitioners manual) to deliver 'The Parent Factor in ADHD' parenting programme to parents in their area. The programme has been written specifically for parents of children aged up to 16 years who have a clinical diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), that is they have received their diagnosis from a specialist medical professional/clinic. To deliver this programme, practitioners will need to attend a two-day endorsed Facilitator's Learning Programme.

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an opportunity to build upon their existing knowledge of Child Sexual Exploitation to a more advanced level. This will provide more confidence to work in this area and safeguard children effectively.

This one day course will ensure participants understand the nature and potential impact of neglect on children. They will build on their ability to identify neglect and to respond appropriately. They will have the opportunity to apply assessment tools including the Graded Care profile to assessments in order to gain a detailed understanding of the child's circumstances and lived experience.

This course is aimed at all staff and volunteers (particularly during induction periods) to ensure they understand their role and responsibilities to recognise and respond to children and young people in need or at risk from harm.

This 3 day course gives specialist insight into safeguarding and protecting children and young people for managers. It's main emphasis is to give learners the knowledge and skills to undertake assessments when children may be at risk and support the staff they manage.

This programme will specifically support practitioners to prevent child sexual exploitation (CSE), protect children and young people who are at risk of harm or are abused through sexual exploitation and disrupt and prosecute those who perpetrate this form of abuse.

This 3 day train the trainer programme is designed to support organisations to up skill their work force on the use of the DARAC model for the assessment of domestic abuse. Professionals need to be trained in the use of the model, and by providing a train the trainer programme, the cost is kept to a minimum allowing in house delivery.

Participants will get to know the responsibilities and duties of services towards young people and learn to understand the issues that young people may face. This course will also deliver to consider disclosure and how this may affect education or training placements or employment. Overall it is aimed to ensure Personal Advisers to get to know their young person and to encourage their aspirations.

Barnardos FGM Centre have developed an E-Learning, the first of its kind in the world, on harmful practices to improve multi-agency professionals knowledge, skills and practice. This tool will enable you to think holistically about harmful practices. Regardless of what harmful practice you come across in your profession, you will be able to use and apply the knowledge gained from this. What topics does the E-Learning cover, Module 1 Introduction to harmful practices, Module 2 Culture, Religion and Harmful Practices, Module 3 The Law and Harmful Practices, Module 4 Health, Trauma and Harmful Practices, Module 5 Direct Work with Children, Young People and Families, Module 6 Final Assessment.

The use of Kolbs Learning Cycle providing participants with an opportunity for experiential learning based on safeguarding scenarios based on examples from Carnival Cruises.

This course will explain CAMHS service thresholds and the range of different mental health issues that young people may face. Possible community and voluntary service provisions are addressed. The need for therapeutic approaches to casework is discussed. Participants will reflect on their own experiences, look at information on the prevalence of mental health issues, review challenging issues to work and look at possible problems in the transition from young person services to adult services. Participants will also learn how to talk through these issues.

The aim of this training is to support teachers to develop a whole school approach to FGM.

This course focuses on care leavers in the criminal justice system with a particular emphasis on the young person perspective when leaving custody. It considers our own and society’s attitudes towards crime and criminal behaviour and looks at what may increase risks for young people. The role of the Personal Adviser with regards to young people in custody and on remand is identified along with their legal entitlements. Participants will focus on their role and those of other professionals. They will consider the impact of custody on mental health and discuss how they can prepare and support young people for release.

This course considers the rationale for and the importance of partnership working in providing support to care leavers. It considers the need for effective networking skills and explains the nature of the brokering role of the Personal Adviser in accessing services for young people. Participants will look at who makes up their network, the networks that young people have, effective negotiating with services, undertaking challenging conversations involving young people and colleagues form other agencies and resolving issues that may arise.

This course covers the process of Pathway Planning including when they should be done, who should be involved and the legal requirements behind the process. It encourages different approaches to assessment and information gathering. It includes the need for contingency planning and ensuring workers support young people in building aspirations for their future. The eight domains of the Pathway Plan are discussed with a view to ensuring access to as much available support as possible with particular reference to accommodation and education needs of young people.

This course is part of ten full day courses that aim to enhance the skills and learning of Personal Advisers working with young people leaving the Care system. Particularly, the course identifies why child development is important in this regard.

The Secondary resource is aimed at children in years 7 - 9. It is a preventative resource that looks at healthy relationships, grooming, the impact of porn and sexting and staying safe in the real world and online. This course recognises the importance of effective recording and why we need to be clear and jargon free. Participants will consider and discuss the need for evidence based recording and look at issues around information sharing. They will also get to discuss how learning styles can affect communication and thus the importance of building good relationships and engaging with young people. Participants will assess their own learning style, the VARK modalities and the Kolb learning cycle in developing an understanding of how we may communicate more effectively. The concept of motivational interviewing is discussed in conjunction with active listening and assertiveness skills.

This training is designed for prison staff and managers to recognise the signs and symptoms of child abuse and know what to do in the case of suspected or actual abuse. It is an interactive course exploring the challenges and opportunities from a prison based perspective. The course gives an overview of the policy framework and examples of best practice.

This is a one day course for operational managers in Birmingham to enhance their knowledge and skills of working together to safeguard children in line with the guidance and best practice drives outlined by the Birmingham Safeguarding Children's Board. Throughout the day, the participants are invited to reflect about their own work settings in terms of assets vs. gaps when safeguarding children and though discussions and activities, the participants will contribute towards a safe culture and practice in Birmingham.

This course considers the issues facing young people in their transition from Local Authority care to independence. It looks at the role, skills and responsibilities of the Personal Adviser. It covers young people’s entitlements to support, the ways that young people come in to care and the role of Corporate Parents. Participants will consider the young person perspective on what support they require, the legislation affecting their transition and hearing the voice of the young person in decision making. It also considers the particular challenges that may face young people and how we can support them to make a success of independence.
