The Bon Accord Care Basic Life Support course is designed to upskill participants to promptly recognise several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions and provide early use of an AED, through the guidance of practical instructor-led training and scenarios. The course also covers when DNACPR (Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is to be used and the importance of the recovery position to preserve life by maintaining an open airway.

Manual Handling of people and objects is a training course designed to understand the effective principles of movement. Carry out manual handling tasks in a safe and reasonably practicable manner, preventing musculoskeletal disorders, information alone will not prevent risks to service users and support staff. Our Manual handling training course is designed to provide information and guidance on the manual handling regulations and the importance of conducting dynamic risk assessment using LITEE (load, Individual Capability, Task, Environment, Equipment) with a practical training session in manual handling techniques and using a safe system of work to reduce work related injuries.

This course is designed to assist staff who document Service Users personal outcomes in their support plans. Staff will be encouraged to understand the personal outcome approach and document what makes a good life for our Service Users. This is accomplished through a blended learning approach involving both activities and group discussion.
