Practical approaches to improve productivity

This half day session introduces Quality Improvement (QI) methodology for those who are either involved in QI projects or thinking about being involved and want to learn about the Model for Improvement. During this training attendees will learn about the model for improvement, including how to develop an Aim Statement, a Driver Diagram and run Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycles to test change ideas and bring about incremental improvement. The training also introduces the use of data as measures for improvement.

This training programme is aimed at providing delegates with a practical understanding of how to apply the Quality Improvement (QI) Model for Improvement. Delegates receive training and coaching whilst undertaking a live improvement project. The programme is delivered over a 4-month period with two learning sessions and two (QI) coaching sessions. An action period is provided between learning and coaching sessions during which trainees are expected to work on an improvement project of their choosing that is relevant to the service in which they work. Delegates will build on previous knowledge of the Model for Improvement and benefit from practicing the application of the model. At the end of the course delegates will be able to demonstrate that they have learn about applying the model in the workplace.

This full day session training and tools is to help senior leaders (and sponsors) lead services and/or teams to either adopt an improvement approach or to undertake QI projects. This practical, workshop-based programme supports staff in applying the Quality Improvement (QI) Model for Improvement through hands-on training and coaching. It includes learning sessions, QI coaching, and an action period to work on a live project. Participants will analyse systems, plan and run a QI project, involve service users, and use data to drive sustainable change. Aimed at those with an approved improvement idea, the course builds on existing QI knowledge and provides access to ongoing coaching support. Delegates will demonstrate practical application of the model within their workplace by the end of the course.
