About the CPD Course

This course develops knowledge, understanding and awareness of domestic violence/abuse with a focus on the aftermath of an attempted domestic homicide. It provides a safe learning space to improve knowledge and understanding of key issues and confidence to respond and improve your work practice. It utilises the original drama, based on real events, LIFE SENTENCE, which takes participants through the story of ‘Penny’ who tried to defend herself and her child from an attempted domestic violence murder, raising awareness of serious cases, the need for a workplace DV strategy, stalking, legal and medical issues and how work place practice can better support victims. This is accompanied by, interactive activities and group discussions

It provides a safe learning space to improve knowledge and understanding of key issues and confidence to respond and improve your work practice. It utilises the original dynamic drama MOCKINGBIRD HIGH, taking participants through the case studies of a mother, her teenage son and teenage daughter. This is accompanied by, interactive activities, group discussions, reflection, and support materials - (providing information on safeguarding children, reporting concerns, responding to disclosures, sharing information and creating a domestic abuse aware workplace.)
