Mockingbird High, Domestic Violence & the impact on children

This course develops knowledge, understanding and awareness of domestic violence and abuse with a focus on coercive control and the impact on women. It provides a safe learning space to improve knowledge and understanding of key issues and confidence to respond and improve your work practice. It utilises the original dynamic drama LADY IN RED, taking participants through one woman’s journey to escape an abusive relationship. It explores – emotional, physical, financial, sexual and psychological abuse. This is accompanied by, interactive activities, group discussions and reflection.

This course develops knowledge, understanding and awareness of domestic violence/abuse with a focus on the aftermath of an attempted domestic homicide. It provides a safe learning space to improve knowledge and understanding of key issues and confidence to respond and improve your work practice. It utilises the original drama, based on real events, LIFE SENTENCE, which takes participants through the story of ‘Penny’ who tried to defend herself and her child from an attempted domestic violence murder, raising awareness of serious cases, the need for a workplace DV strategy, stalking, legal and medical issues and how work place practice can better support victims. This is accompanied by, interactive activities and group discussions
