This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Learners will explore the essential components that make up BESS and understand how these systems work to store and deliver energy effectively. They will also delve into the different operational modes of BESS, such as voltage support and energy arbitrage, while gaining insight into critical design risks, like overcharging and fire safety, along with strategies to mitigate these challenges.

This course introduces learners to the UK renewable energy development process, covering major stages from origination through to Ready-to-Build (RTB). Participants will gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of key team members, including Land, Grid, Planning, and Technical teams, and how their collaboration drives project success. Additionally, the course familiarises learners with essential industry terminology, ensuring clear communication and a solid understanding of the language commonly used in renewable energy development. This foundational knowledge equips learners to effectively navigate and contribute to renewable energy projects.

This course provides a detailed overview of supply chain management in solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, focusing on the tendering process, key supply chain stages, and risk management. Learners will gain insights into selecting suppliers based on financial stability, technical competency, and sustainability compliance. Additionally, the course outlines each stage of the supply chain, from raw material extraction to final delivery, and covers essential risks in supply chain management, alongside effective mitigation strategies. This foundational knowledge prepares learners to manage and optimise supply chains for renewable energy projects effectively.

This course provides an introduction to the key factors and processes involved in identifying and securing land for utility-scale solar farm development. It is primarily an interactive course that you can navigate at your own pace. An introductory video is provided by the course tutor, along with a 15-minute assessment.

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of ESG principles within the UK renewable energy sector, examining their significance and integration into industry practices. Participants will analyse the UK’s energy policies, key regulatory bodies, and support mechanisms driving renewable growth. The course also covers the implications of upcoming UK and EU ESG regulations, including Labour's green reforms and the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). Finally, learners will explore ESG frameworks and governance strategies to enhance transparency, accountability, and social responsibility in renewable energy projects, equipping participants with the knowledge to navigate and influence the evolving sustainable energy landscape.
