L.I.S.T.E.N. GBV Risk Assessment Training

Training Course

About the CPD Course

L.I.S.T.E.N. is an evidence-based risk assessment tool for gender-based violence (GBV) in colleges and universities. It was developed after the tragic death of Emily Drouet, an 18-year-old law student subjected to GBV, who received inadequate support after seeking help. She was sent back to her room alone and later took her own life. L.I.S.T.E.N. equips staff to respond responsibly to GBV disclosures, providing a clear conversation guide to assess risk as high, medium, or low, ensuring appropriate action to enhance safety. The training covers confidentiality, note-taking, and escalation procedures tailored to institutional needs.

We were set up in memory of Emily Drouet, an undergraduate law student, who was subjected to a campaign of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by a fellow student. Our mission is to ensure no other student ends up in Emily's shoes. We aim to achieve this through our GBV Charter, our training programmes and the resources that we share across institutions.
