Using Effective Questioning to Promote Good Progress

This course aims to provide an overview of assessment and feedback in the classroom. We will explore three pivotal components of assessment in education, Assessment for Learning (AfL), Assessment of Learning (AoL) and providing effective feedback.

This short course provides an overview of how tutors can best prepare themselves for online delivery. Additionally, it provides a comprehensive guide to the Lessonspace online system that Equal Education Partners uses to deliver tuition. A downloadable pdf guide is available so that tutors can take this away and practice using the Lessonspace tools. Furthermore, this course suggests practical strategies supported by examples that tutors can use to increase learner engagement online, and ensure that sessions are as interactive as possible. It explores potential barriers to engagement and how tutors can help learners to overcome these barriers.

Education in Wales is changing with The Curriculum and Assessment Wales Act 2021 setting out The 4 Purposes of the new curriculum in law. This course provides an introduction to the New Curriculum for Wales, including an explanation of these 4 purposes. It is suitable for any education professional either currently or considering working in schools in Wales. This course is relevant for both primary and secondary educational settings and provides an overview of the new curriculum from the perspective of ages 3-16. No experience or prior knowledge of The New Curriculum for Wales is required.

This course provides an overview of the theory behind positive behaviour for learning in educational settings. It provides practical tools and strategies for educators to use in the classroom to promote positive behaviour for learning in their educational setting. It does this through introducing theory behind restorative practice, alongside practical strategies for use in the classroom. It addresses how educators can build positive relationships with students, and manage the classroom environment effectively. Furthermore, this course provides an overview of behaviourism learning theory and suggests practical strategies supported by examples that educators can use to praise students effectively.

Safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone working with young people in education settings. This course covers roles and responsibilities of Teachers, Tutors and Teaching Assistants to protect children from harm or abuse, and aims to develop or refresh awareness and understanding of Child Protection. It is suitable for any current or prospective education professional working with young people under the age of 18 and covers, categories of abuse, responding to concerns, reporting concerns, record keeping, and online safety. No prior knowledge is required as an introduction to safeguarding is provided. This course is also available through the medium of Welsh.
