Introduction to Machinery Safety

The course covers the conformity assessment procedure associated with the UKCA / CE marking of machinery. Through the implementation of machinery safety Regulations / Directives and use of harmonised standards, course delegates will get an appreciation of the legal framework involved and an understanding of each of the stages and procedures along the route to conformity.

This course is intended to deliver a basic appreciation of The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), including its importance in the workplace. To achieve this, you will be provided with the knowledge to be able to manage equipment safety through the use of physical inspections along with the implementation of safe operating procedures and working practices for equipment intended for, or currently in use.

This course is intended to provide knowledge on risk assessments in the manufacturing workplace. The course gives advice on how to identify, quantify and document machine related hazards and their associated risks, using guidance from the relevant standards. A structured risk-reduction methodology is introduced, resulting in a thorough understanding of the process and solutions needed to provide a safe workplace for all.

This two day course will provide delegates with a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the legal requirement for designing and validating safety related control systems, typically used in manufacturing and process machines and equipment. At the end of the course, delegates will have sufficient knowledge to design and validate an industrial safety related control system.
