Parent Group Leader Training

This 1-day training course is for practitioners who have trained as Parent Group Leaders or Welcome to the World Group Leaders and who wish to work with parents on the subject of play. The course provides the knowledge, skills and resources to deliver the two, 2-hour workshops. The workshops can also be delivered on a 1,1 basis and the training may also be used as a CPD (Continued Professional Development) day. The course highlights the importance of play and of building attachment through play. It focuses on understanding of child development, the brain, attachment and how play supports health development.

This is a full day workshop for school staff which explores practical strategies for developing emotional resilience and creating a healthy emotional climate in the school. Topics include an introduction to the Nurturing Programme, positive behaviour management strategies, boundaries and consistency, praise and criticism, giving feedback, and approaches for building deep and empathic relationships. You can book team training at a time and location of your choice. We don’t offer individual places for this workshop.

COVID-19 has led to many people now working from home. At the same time as our physical distancing from our colleagues, there are also severe restrictions on our social lives and other activities which can balance out our working lives. We may be worrying about family members and friends, about job security, about the future. Our homes may not offer us a quiet space where we feel we can work with our usual focus. This webinar supports people who find themselves working from home in this challenging environment. It lasts for approximately 50 minutes with 10 minutes available for questions.

This course is based on the most recent research on adolescence and equips participants to explain appropriate parenting styles and strategies to the parents they work with. The programme provides a positive view of teenage development and focuses on relationships within the family, communication, negotiating, decision-making and strategies to reduce conflict. Participants can deliver parent groups or use their skills working one-to-one with parents/carers. This 1-day CPD course is for those working with parents of teenagers and/or those working with teenagers themselves. It provides an opportunity to understand teenage brain development and the adolescent developmental process and consider both risk and resilience. It includes ideas and strategies for professionals working with teenagers and their parents to help them cope with challenging feelings and behaviour and to support young people in an emotionally healthy context. The day brings together the latest understanding from neuroscience and developmental psychology and the principles of The Nurturing Programme.

This 2-day or 4-day training course will provide practitioners with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to deliver the 8-week Welcome to the World programme for parents. The focus is on the emotional health of the parents and baby and the relationships between them, and emphasises the importance of supportive, positive facilitation from the practitioner.
