Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) Awareness

Online Course

About the CPD Course

Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) is a potentially life-threatening medical emergency affecting individuals with a spinal cord injury at or above the level of T6. It occurs when a noxious stimulus below the level of injury triggers an uncontrolled autonomic response, resulting in a sudden and severe rise in blood pressure. If not recognised and managed promptly, AD can lead to serious complications, including stroke, seizures, or cardiac arrest. This course equips health and social care professionals with the knowledge to recognise early signs, reduce risks, and respond safely and effectively to Autonomic Dysreflexia.
