In the UK, over 10,000 new cases of bladder cancer are diagnosed each year, making it the 4th most common cause of cancer in men and the 12th most common in women. This module is focused on the common causes of blood in the urine (haematuria), history taking in patients presenting with visible and non-visible haematuria, basic investigations, and potential differential diagnoses. On completion of the module, you should be familiar with the different ways in which haematuria presents and understand the importance of good history taking, the rationale for investigation and pathways for onward referral.

This module reprises the ways in which blood in the urine (haematuria) can present in different patients and details the various investigative techniques used to establish a diagnosis. By the end of the module, you should have a good understanding of the investigations used to establish a diagnosis in haematuria, their use in clinical practice and their limitations.

This module aims to demonstrate the theories used to support endoscopic evaluation, biopsy and ablation of bladder lesions. On completion of this module, you should be familiar with the different methods and reasoning used to detect, evaluate, and extract bladder lesions.

This module explores the pathway of metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC) from identification and management through to rehabilitation and discharge.

This course will cover the timely and accurate diagnosis of MSCC for patients. For patients with an existing cancer diagnosis this is critical as MSCC can be more difficult to diagnose. This module covers, what is MSCC (detection, diagnosis, treatment, follow up care) and how it is managed clinically.

This module focuses on the triaging process and treatment options. This module offers guidance on initially managing suspected MSCC and who to contact following confirmed diagnosis and rehabilitation.

These topics include, Cancer Care Reviews (CCR), Genomics, Holistic Needs Assessments (HNA’s), Treatment Summaries, Personalised Stratified Follow-Up (PSFU), Living Well with Cancer Programme (LWwC), Personalised Care and Support Plan (PCSP).

This Module introduces and establishes the benefits of a 28-day diagnostic prostate cancer pathway. The content explores prostate cancer incidence rate, prognosis, morbidity and mortality. This encompasses some of the key global and UK statistics for prostate cancer, highlighting the high prostate cancer incidence rate, with insights into the natural history of the disease and some of the risk factors for developing prostate cancer. The need for early diagnosis to give patients timely access to appropriate treatment as they start their disease management journey is highlighted. This resource aims to inform and support the optimisation of patient care.

This Module provides an overview of the nature of prostate cancer and how it is likely to present, including the broad disease spectrum from asymptomatic indolent cancer to a more aggressive disease to help understand the nature of the progression of the disease. Key focal points are understanding the people more likely to be at risk and in need of diagnostic investigation, in particular based on their ethnic background and genetic risk factors. The importance of early detection and appropriate disease management makes it vital to discern who needs to be considered for the prostate cancer diagnostic pathway.

This interactive eLearning module provides a practical introduction to germline testing and how it fits into patient care. Through patient scenarios and expert advice, it supports healthcare professionals and others who have conversations with patients about genetic testing.

A hands-on practical session covering taught topics on examination basics and smear taking. A practical workshop with a trained facilitator will allow the opportunity for you to look and feel for cancers. We will also cover how to manage conversation and concern with patients who do require a referral.
