Harmless sixth annual From Harm to Hope national conference focuses on ‘Looking back and looking forward, what self-harm evidence and presentations tell us about needs and practice.’ Harmless hosts 9 interactive sessions that can drive change in the field of self-harm and suicide prevention. Delegates can take away a range of knowledge, inspiration, and practical applications for the implementation in personal and professional situations. This event will bring together private, public, voluntary and community sector organisations, individuals with lived experience of self-harm, professionals and practitioners working within the field of self-harm and suicide prevention.

This course provides an understanding of self-harm & suicide within Gypsy, Roma & traveller communities. It explores the unique risk factors affecting these groups & aims to reduce stigma and discrimination. Participants will develop skills to create inclusive, supportive environments & increase confidence in recognising and responding to self-harm & suicide. The training also focusses on improving engagement with support services & understanding challenges in accessing appropriate care locally & nationally.

Our internet safety and emotional wellbeing training day enables individuals to explore the relationship between the internet and emotional wellbeing. This includes looking at modern-day internet and app use, online risks, digital fluency, and appropriate online support and interventions around self harm and suicide

Our Introductory Mental health course is an course to supporting those who are at risk of poor mental health. It develops a foundational knowledge around mental health and encourages the participants to explore and identify key issues around stigma and understanding how to reduce discrimination. Participants will develop an understanding around warning signs & symptoms for common mental health conditions and explore how to respond appropriately to disclosures of mental health issues and build effective signposting skills along with reinforcing self-care strategies.

This course provides an advance overview of self-harm and suicide training specifically aimed for those working within IAPT services. Learning topics covered include, Contextual knowledge, Policy, strategy and contextual issues, Advanced skills, Risk assessment and safety planning, Brief interventions, and Recovery. The course is suitable for those interested in an enhanced level of training and CPD, delegates must have completed at least a Level 3 course previously (e.g. PWP’s, CBT, Counsellors etc).

This course explores the complex: often misunderstood issues of self-harm and suicide among boys and men. While relevant to all: males face unique risks: pressures: and barriers that demand tailored responses. Participants will gain insight into how distress manifests in males: shaped by stigma: gender norms: and mental health literacy. Women aged 45–54 - the typical age range for perimenopause and menopause, have the highest suicide rates among women in the UK. This sobering statistic reveals a hidden crisis, often overlooked in conversations about mental health and women's wellbeing. Join us for this essential training session designed to increase awareness, build understanding, and equip professionals with the skills needed to support women navigating menopause and midlife mental health challenges and suicide risk.

Poor mental health significantly impacts individuals' families' friends' and workplaces. This training provides practical tools and insights for anyone to act effectively when supporting someone in need. The course aims to develop your understanding of mental health' mental ill health' and wellbeing' including signs of poor mental health - like stress and burnout. The course also explores the relationship between self-harm' mental health and suicide. You will learn to identify risk and protective factors' understand the impacts of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)' and build response skills for acute distress.

Our Mental Health awareness for Managers training provides an opportunity for any Manager to gain more knowledge, skills and confidence in supporting the emotional wellbeing of their employees. Managers will gain a detailed overview of common mental health conditions, identify risks, signs and symptoms of workplace stress, and explore strategies of intervention to support their employees, teams, and organisation as a whole. This includes a look at relevant legislation, sickness absence, presenteeism, and reasonable adjustments.

Delegates will explore both the impact upon them and their own professional arenas as well as non-specific training.

This DVD can be used by people that self-harm to promote recovery and self-belief. It can also be used by professionals or carers to enhance understanding, empathy and strategies that are helpful when supporting people that self-harm.

Our Level 3 Self Harm online training course provides a more in-depth understanding of self harm and builds on the brief intervention work in the level 2 course, considering evidence-based long-term support. Participants will not only develop a range of skills to assess and support those who self harm, they will also, practice the application of these skills and reflect on their own practice.

This evidence-based Self Harm Awareness training is designed for professionals and volunteers across various sectors, including social services, healthcare, first responders, housing, and community groups. The course aims to improve awareness of self-harm, its types, and related issues, including the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Participants will develop skills to identify warning signs of emotional distress and self-harm, learn to respond appropriately, and practice evidence-based brief interventions and safety planning for both adults and children/young people. The training enhances confidence, working practice, and knowledge, deepening the understanding of the complex relationship between self-harm, mental health, and suicide.

Our Level 2 Self Harm online training course builds a foundational understanding of self harm and encourages the participants to explore key issues and stereotypes faced by those who self harm and those who offer support. Participants will develop a range of evidence-based brief intervention strategies and signposting skills to effectively support someone who self harms. As well as reflecting on their own practice when responding to disclosures

Our self-care and resilience training half day provides an opportunity for individuals from a broad range of professional arenas to attend and get a detailed overview of self-care and resilience. This includes looking at risk factors, burnout, coping mechanisms, self-help strategies, and signposting. The training is non-specific to a particular field as it can be applied to any professional arena.

This training is designed for professionals and community members, aiming to equip them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to offer respectful and compassionate support to those grieving a suicide loss. Suicide bereavement is a complex form of grief. This course addresses its magnitude, including complicated grief, trauma, stigma, and the associated risks. The course covers best-practice UK strategic guidance, postvention strategies, and insights from a local service perspective, such as The Tomorrow Project. By attending, delegates will learn to break down barriers, use appropriate language, and make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by suicide.

This year's conference theme is 'Surviving a Crisis, How to ensure we keep moving in the direction of effective application'. Harmless will host seven live online webinar sessions with experts in the field of suicide bereavement. We have an amazing line up of contributions from Nottinghamshire Police, University of Glasgow, University College London, SASP, and the Harmless and Tomorrow Project Team.
