Wireless Fire Detection, The Standards & New Technologies

As our buildings get larger, and the internal spaces within these buildings increase, traditional point fire detection can’t always provide adequate and compliant coverage. In this CPD course we provide comprehensive insights into the better solution in these scenarios, beam smoke detection technology. The emergency lighting standard, BS 5266, was updated in November 2016. One on the key changes was the introduction of Emergency Safety Lighting, this change, amongst others, are explained in this presentation. This presentation addresses the amendments to BS5266, therefore the audience is expected to have existing knowledge of the standard.

This seminar explores the different approaches for designing and installing BS 5839 compliant fire detection into House In Multiple Occupancy (HMO). In particular, the approach of mixing Part 1 compliant (commercial) and Part 6 compliant (domestic) devices onto one system and whether this provides adequate protection for life and property across all possible fire risk scenarios.
