Being an Active Bystander: Preventing Harassment in the Workplace

The aim of this session is to open up conversations and ensure confidence in preventing issues of harassment in the workplace and work-related contexts. It will allow participants to explore their own views, societal views and the law. It is designed to raise awareness of the issues faced by survivors with a view to identifying indicators and improving our ability to intervene and stand-up to sexual harassment, misconduct and violence in the workplace. It will also work to ensure effective understanding and adherence to the organisations policies and procedures.

Introduction to the Sexual Violence Liaison Officer Role: Responding, Supporting and Empowering Survivors

The aim of this session is to understand the experience of sexual violence from the perspective of survivors and ensure confidence in offering a trauma-informed approach throughout support. It will open up conversations on sexual violence, rape myths and trauma responses enabling participants to hear the voices of survivors, explore societal views and reflect on their own outlooks. Using research-based theories and real-life case studies, it will offer the key principles of trauma-informed practice and care aiming to improve participants ability to support and advocate for survivors from initial disclosure to risk and support planning to longer-term healing and recovery.

Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

The aim of this session is to understand the experience of sexual harassment at work from the perspective of survivors and ensure confidence in recognising, responding to and preventing issues of harassment in the workplace and work-related contexts. It will open up conversations on the law, social contexts and intersectionality allowing participants to explore survivors’ perspectives, societal attitudes and their own views. Using research-based theories and case studies, it will offer the key principles of survivor-centred and trauma-informed practice. It will also work to ensure effective understanding and adherence to the organisations policies and procedures.

This session is divided into two parts. Part 1 follows the process to the end of the police investigation and part 2 follows a survivors journey through the court process.
