This course will show you how to use ApacheHVAC, IES'HVAC plant and controls modelling tool. You will see how to create HVAC networks for subsequent use by ApacheSim, IES' dynamic thermal simulation module. This course is suitable for those with little or no experience of ApacheHVAC. Prior training (or competency) in ModeIIT and ApacheSim is required.

ApacheSim training will focus on how to create construction and thermal data within the Virtual Environment. This is required if you want to perform dynamic thermal simulations, thermal load calculations and UK/Republic of Ireland compliance checks and EPC/BER creation.

This is a 3 day face-to-face Virtual Environment training course, covering ModeIIT, SunCast, ApacheSim, ApacheCalc, Macroflo, Sketch-Up into IES and Revit into IES.

A 3 day face-to-face Virtual Environmental training course, covering ModeIIT, SunCast, ApacheSim, ApacheCalc, Macroflo and VE Compliance. The course will offer valuable and effective training in an interactive "hands-on" format and is suitable for those who have little or no experience with the VE. IES.

These training sessions are around 1 hour and are used primarily to assist architects in developing their skills using the IES VE and iCD software for Building Performance Modelling. The session covers early design stage - specific to architectural design - modelling examples typically prepared at RIBA Stage 2, effects of daylighting and sun lighting, developing massing options, internal layout, glazing options and systems at RIBA Stage 3. It will also look at occupant overheating, building level energy consumption, life cycle assessment, EPC’s and internal daylighting.

This presentation is all about the importance of designing for performance. Each stage of a building project represents an opportunity for the design team to improve the performance of a building. The presentation will cover the performance gap, the UK governments BIM strategy and the intelligent use of data throughout a buildings lifecycle to enable performance driven design.

In this online training course, we’ll show you how to use our MacroFlo application to create a zonal airflow model to calculate bulk air movement in and through the building, driven by wind and buoyancy induced pressures. Follow along with the instructor as we take you step by step through analysing natural ventilation, by simulating the flow of air through openings in the building envelope. This lets us assess and compare different ventilation strategies.

In MacroFlo training you will learn how to apply this tool to minimise the need for air conditioning in a building, or eliminate it all together.

At the core of the IES is an Integrated Data Model (IDM) which captures every aspect of a building's geometry, constructions, usage, climate and equipment. This model can be used by IES' thermal, shading, lighting UK Compliance and other analysis tools. ModeIIT training should be completed before undertaking any other VE-Pro module training.

In this course, we’ll take you step by step through how to create accurate building models using the ModelIT application. With the help of our training videos, notes and test models, you will learn how to quickly create clean, simple geometry, for simulations that avoid errors and run faster.

The VE Python API allows you to create simple programs using the Python Programming Language, to interact with a VE Model and/or Vista Results File. This gives you the option to automate many of the repetitive tasks, which up to now would have been relatively tedious. With the VE Python API, you can create simple Python programs to automatically, Extract specific information from a VE Model or Vista Results file, Perform some calculations on the data if desired, Arrange the data into a standard format, Write the data to another program such as Microsoft Excel or Word.

This free IES Faculty educational session provides a comprehensive review of the latest design guidance for non-domestic buildings including TM54, TM49, AM11 etc. and demonstrates how the VE can be used to respond to these challenges and streamline workflow.

This course looks at how to use the SunCast application in the IES Virtual Environment to generate shading images and views of solar energy and solar exposure.

SunCast enables you to analyse the geometric relationship between the sun and your building. This training course will help you understand and apply this powerful solar analysis tool.

In VE-DSM training you will be shown how to use IES's VE-DSM tool to prepare building and system data and to prepare compliance checks for non-dwellings using the ApacheSim DSM method, which employs the technique of dynamic thermal simulation. This course covers the requirements for England and Wales as standard, Northern Ireland elements can be added on request. VE-DSM training for Scotland is a face-to-face only course.

In VE-SBEM training you will be shown how to use IES's VE-SBEM tool to prepare construction, building and system data and to perform compliance checks for non-dwellings using the SBEM method. This course covers the requirements for England & Wales and N Ireland as standard, Scottish elements can be added on request.
