About the CPD Course

Investing in Children is a children’s human rights organisation. We support organisations to engage in a process of dialogue and change with children and young people so that the services that they provide are more meaningful accessible and cost effective. Our Peer Mentoring Programme – Train the Trainers allows staff to explore the principles of effective peer mentoring and the benefits for mentors and mentees. Participants will be supported to develop a peer mentoring programme tailored to their own setting and the skills to go on to train future cohorts of mentors. A supporting ASDAN course is available for young people.

Future Foster Carer Training

Investing in Children

This interactive session has been developed by care experienced young people primarily for prospective foster carers. The session would also be appropriate for current foster carers. During the session, attendees will take part in activities designed by young people and hear directly from young people about their key messages for foster carers. The session will cover, Investing in Children and the background to the training, What it’s like coming into care, Discussion on children’s rights, What makes a good foster carer?, Language and what it means. Issues important to young people.

The Agenda Day™ model is a specific tool that we have developed for engaging children and young people in dialogue. It supports practitioners to deliver adult-free spaces that are facilitated by children and young people. The training will create capacity within an organisation to develop and deliver the Agenda Day™ model with children and young people themselves.
