Climbing Competency

The course will provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills which will enable them to inspect and report any ladder defects.

The course will provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skill which will enable them to have a work knowledge of using a puller tensioner. Be competent in pre-use checks, set up and operation during the Line Stringing Process. The course covers legislation, inspection of PPE, risk assessment, puller tensioner familiarisation, connecting conductors, pull and drum settings, anchoring and positioning the puller tensioner.

The course will provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills which will enable them to use a utility winch, be competent in pre-use checks, set up and operation during lifting activity. The course covers legislation, inspection of PPE, risk assessment, winch familiarisation, positioning and earthing a winch.

The Tower Rescue course will provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to enable them to safely rescue themselves or a fellow climber in the event of a fall or other fault encountered during work on a tower, mast or pylon. Delegates will take part in climbing a transmission pylon in Izumi's specially designed training area. Rescue techniques will be demonstrated.
