Understanding the perspective of the people we support

Today we will cover the all wales passport which is still relevant in England however, it was created by the NHS trust in Wales. It follows the same legislation that covers all manual handling in the UK. Today is day 1 of a 2 day course. Today focuses on the theory behind how to manually handle objects and people safely. The second day covers use of appropriate equipment for those individuals’ we support with mobility needs.

This half day session is very much at the start of a training pathway for understanding autism and the varied ways it impacts on individuals who have a diagnosis.. The areas of the diagnostic criteria for autism are explored briefly. With an improved understanding some of the positive ways of working with autistic individuals to ensure they lead fulfilling and rewarding lives are outlined. Participants are asked to identify ways that they may need to work differently with a greater awareness of autism.

This course aims to give care staff a basic awareness of the effects of alcohol and how people can become dependent on it.

An introductory course to Personality Disorders looking at the DSM IV and ICD,10 diagnosis criteria and types of personality disorder. Learners will gain an understanding of the three clusters and how people will present in each group. The course will also cover the treatment options available.

This pack is aimed at staff who work with individuals who are prone to hoarding, this packs gives them information on why people hoard, and how to help them reduce the risk.
