This course looks in detail at the early stages in housing development management, including site finding, negotiation, land valuation, risk management milestone planning and the conveyancing process.

Looks at construction work on housing schemes, who’s involved, procurement, contract types and relationships, key staff, actual building work and managing the various relationships.

Design and Planning for Development looks at how to appoint & manage the design team and the design process, identifying typical design issues and the importance of effective design review. The course then moves on to the planning system, forward planning and development control, planning polices, the process, conditions and obligations.

This course deals specifically with the financial appraisal and explores the main methods of assessing scheme viability in the affordable housing sector and also the open market. It explains the various types of appraisal methodologies such as Payback Period, Profit and Loss, Discounted Cashflow, IRR and Yields. It discussed the various threshold/hurdle requirements, how they are calculated and what affects them. We also spend some time on the residual appraisal method and cashflow. The course is designed to be interactive and allow discussion on some of the more troublesome themes.

Explains and gives examples of the National Planning Policy Framework requirements for viability submissions for planning applications that are not in line with the local development plan.

The M3NHF Schedule of Rates training course covers the format of the Schedules of Rates, a section on understanding the definitions and measurement rule, repair examples and exercises, dealing with variations, what is deemed to be included in the rates.

This course is aimed at those will little or no operational experience in the social housing sector and provides an overview of the development process from inception, through planning and procurement to completion and handover. It provides an overview of the key stages involved in the regeneration and development process and will help attendees understand and unpack some of the jargon and legislation that goes with the industry.
