Understanding and supporting autistic people

This half-day course examines what we know about the ageing process and how it may affect autistic people. You’ll learn practical strategies to support people from middle age onward.

This course will focus on the common toileting difficulties in autistic children. The course aims to explore why autistic children may find learning to use the toilet difficult, as well as more specific continence issues. The session will focus on the need for detailed preparation, examining other autism-related behaviour, such as only using certain toilets, smearing and response to sensory differences.

The Autism and SPELL Licensed User Training is a three-day training course that licenses autism experienced professionals to deliver the Autism and SPELL course to their staff teams. The Autism and SPELL course from the National Autistic Society is based on training that our specialist autism trainers have been delivering successfully to thousands of professionals across the UK and internationally for a number of years.&nbsp,

This three day licensed user training is for professionals who support parents and carers of autistic children aged four to nine. Following completion of the licensed user training, participants will be able to deliver the NAS EarlyBird Plus programme directly to families.
