About the CPD Course
The generation and management of household, commercial, industrial, construction, and demolition waste carry both economic and environmental implications. Improper disposal methods, particularly for plastic, food, and garden waste, can lead to the release of greenhouse gases, further exacerbating climate change.
In 2021, the disposal and treatment of waste, including wastewater, accounted for 6% of the UK's total greenhouse gas emissions. At present, a staggering 70% of waste in the UK is sent to landfills, underscoring a pressing issue regarding methane emissions' regulation and control. To put this into perspective, one tonne of biodegradable waste can produce anywhere between 200 and 400 cubic meters of landfill gas. This underscores the critical need for more sustainable waste management practices to mitigate their environmental impact.
In collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University and certified by CPD, this course is meticulously designed to address the unique challenges faced by professionals in the Waste Management sector, offering specialised knowledge and strategies for sustainable practices.
