Who Am I – Communication and Understanding Human Nature

A workshop to raise awareness of Autism. It focusses on how people with Autism can experience difficulties with communication, interaction and flexibility and aims to provide some strategies for supporting people with Autism to access services.

This full day course will give professionals (Teachers, lunchtime assistants, health workers, youth workers, play workers, mentors, counsellors) an introduction to Child Abuse Linked to Faith and Belief. The course will enable individuals to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns specific to faith and belief when working with children and young people. Professionals will be equipped with the knowledge of the signs and symptoms of various forms of child abuse linked to faith and belief including physical, sexual, emotional, neglect, forced marriage and Female Genital Mutilation. Participants will leave the session confident that they can act effectively and appropriately in response to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people in relation to faith and belief child abuse.

This course will give professionals an introduction to Child Protection and Safeguarding. It will enable individuals to recognise and to respond to safeguarding concerns when working with children and young people. Professionals will be equipped with the knowledge of the signs and symptoms of various forms of child abuse including physical, sexual, emotional, neglect, Child Sexual Exploitation and Female Genital Mutilation.

This course will give participants an introduction to Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). It will enable individuals to recognise the reality of the hidden crime which can affect anyone, anywhere. Attendees will be equipped with the knowledge of how perpetrators engage children and young people giving them the power to recognise CSE signs as early as possible and wherever possible prevent it happening at all. Participants will leave the session confident that they can positively contribute to reducing CSE incidents.

This course is aimed at professionals working in Early Intervention and looking to deliver short term mentoring support for individuals navigating low level challenges. The course focuses on, Defining Mentoring (Mentoring, Coaching, Counselling). Understanding the Mentoring Cycle in a short term mentoring context. Boundaries and Confidentiality in Mentoring. Listening and Communication (Active listening and Questioning Styles). Session Planning for short term mentoring. Resources to support early intervention mentoring delivery.

This is a 1.5hour Workshop for Professionals who work with children and young people on an introduction to EQ. The workshop will enable participants to understand how EQ contributes to a person's adequacy in such areas as self-awareness, empathy, and dealing sensitively with other people, alongside other factors such as their intelligence and personality. The Workshop looks to increase knowledge and skills around the internal/external elements of EQ, to improve social functioning, understanding and managing emotions, and the valuing of ourselves and others. Participants will leave the workshop with a good understanding of EQ and knowledge as to how they can practice further and continue to grow and develop their own EQ in life as well as their profession.

This course provides participants with a history and understanding of the concept Female Genital Mutilation. In this course learners will consider the definition of FGM, the law, statistics and the prevalence along with how professionals can safeguard against the practice.

This full day course will give professionals working with children and young people an in-depth coverage to Child Sexual Exploitation. The course will enable individuals to understand the history and prevalence of CSE through discourse. They will be able to identify who is at risk of CSE and the push / pull factors that lead children and young people to victimisation. Participants will be informed of various models of CSE and awareness of the impact of consent and attitudes towards victims. Participants will be able to identify signs of CSE and know how to respond in both safeguarding and intervention.

This is a workshop for professionals who work with children and young people on an introduction to the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) concept / model of the Vicious Circle (VC). It will enable participants to understand how the VC contributes to a person's altered thinking, feelings and physical experiences in response to an event. How this in turn can then determine our actions / behaviour to a given event.

This is an interactive workshop exploring the Act Model and approach using and applying interventions and metaphors to encourage change and movements towards the life you want to live and the person you want to be.

This Introduction to Mentoring course provides an opportunity for learners to explore Mentoring as a therapeutic approach to supporting children and adults with social, emotional and mental health wellbeing.

This 1-day workshop is aimed at individuals who are training to become volunteer Pathway to Potential mentors but can be opened up to wider professionals working with young people. The workshop explores what is mentoring, the difference between mentoring, counselling and coaching, skills of a mentor, mentoring frameworks, goal setting resources and strategies, session planning and delivering a mentoring session.

This 1-day workshop is aimed at individuals who are interested in becoming volunteer peer mentors. The workshop explores what is mentoring, the role of a peer mentor, the mentoring cycle model, communication, how identity impacts mentoring, goal setting, resources and note taking.

This workshop is for all Professionals. It will enable participants to, gain a good understanding of what stress is, how and why we can experience it and how we need it and the impact that has on us, understand some of the models and concepts that explain stress, gain tools for their ‘tool kit’ – looking at and trying out some practical stress reducing strategies, use this knowledge to support further learning, awareness and wellbeing of themselves, staff teams and clients.
