The theoretical component introduces participants to recognise the symptoms of anger and aggression diffusion techniques encompassing aspects of law, communication skills, report writing and helping with decision making during an incident. The practical component consists of low-level breakaways.

The theoretical component introduces participants to recognise the symptoms of anger and aggression diffusion techniques encompassing aspects of law, communication skills, report writing and helping with decision making during an incident. The practical component consists of low-level restricted physical interventions.

The refresher course will disseminate theoretical knowledge as identified in good practice guidance and update, to reflect the wider evidence base. It will introduce any new developments or research that may inform the organisation in either best practice or possible risk factors. The practical components will consist of participants developing their skills and enhance existing knowledge through formal learning and practice sessions. These will incorporate techniques as set out by the General Services core curriculum of physical skills and will be assessed via formal and informal processes.

The practical component consists of low-level and high-level restricted physical interventions including seclusion techniques.
