One of the most effective ways to reduce exposure to electrical shock and arc flash is to isolate electrical energy sources and ensure equipment is de-energized before performing work. Examples and best practices for verifying the absence of voltage with portable and permanently-mounted testing tools will be presented. Requirements for Absence of Voltage Testers (AVTs) and common voltage testing traps are also discussed.
