Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act (CPIA) operational guidance – Level 1

To provide those who work within a professional organisation, with the knowledge they will require to prepare written statements of evidence and how to present that evidence at any subsequent court hearing, whether magistrates, civil, crown or tribunal.

To provide a comprehensive overview of the legislation and obligations relating to unused material and disclosure for those involved in the investigation of serious or complex offences and the prosecution of offenders.

Critical Incident training, incorporating Golden Hour principles and the National Decision Model is aimed at introducing delegates to the concept of a critical incident and how to manage such incidents should be from the outset. It will enable them to view and manage such incidents with a broader perspective, having regard to the welfare of complainants, and to protect their own professional reputation, that of their team and their organisation. It is aimed at executive teams, managers and other employees who may be involved in the management of sensitive incidents or investigations within their organisation.

To provide first responders with the knowledge and understanding they will require to carry out their responsibilities effectively and to be confident of using and understanding the National Referral Mechanism in respect of Modern slavery.

To provide delegates with a basic awareness of safeguarding children, including an awareness of the categories of abuse, the ability to identify the signs of abuse and to know what to do if you have concerns about a child.

To ensure healthcare professionals whose work brings them into contact with children and young people understand the roles and responsibilities for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.

This course will provide those who may come into contact with any aspect of Modern Slavery or Human Trafficking with the knowledge and understanding they will require to identify, recognise and act upon any potential slavery situations they encounter.

This course will provide those who work within commercial organisations or companies with the knowledge they will require to comply with the legal obligations placed upon them under the Modern Slavery Act and to provide them with an understanding of the actions they can take to combat Modern Slavery.
