Metacognition and Self-Regulated Learning

Online Course

About the CPD Course

This course explores how educators can explicitly develop pupils’ metacognitive and self-regulated learning skills. Participants will learn what metacognition is: why it matters for learning: and how teachers can make thinking processes visible. The course introduces practical ways to model thinking: helping pupils understand how successful learners plan: monitor and evaluate their learning. You will also explore strategies to promote metacognitive dialogue and encourage pupils to reflect on their learning choices. The course highlights how appropriate challenge supports independence and resilience and provides practical approaches for teaching pupils how to organise: manage and take greater responsibility for their own learning.
