This course will provide learners with a greater understanding of the benefits of fluoride. It will discuss the argument of water fluoridation and the many ways in which fluoride can be administered. It will provide the learner with knowledge of what fluoride is and how it can be beneficial for our teeth.

This course provides learners with in-depth knowledge of how best to manage oral care for residents in care homes and residential settings. Learners will gain insight of how poor oral care can impact on oral health and general health and how this can be prevented.

The course will explore the history and use of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate within toothpastes. The advantages and disadvantages of its use and the individuals who would benefit from a sodium lauryl free toothpaste.

This training will highlight the importance of effective oral-health on the body, this will include looking at the anatomy of the mouth and the conditions which may affect it. Methods and treatments based on best practice will be highlighted and discussed.

The training will highlight the effect poor mouth care can have on the quality of life of residents, both physically and psychologically. Mouth care is a fundamental aspect of personal care and is considered one of the most basic nursing activities. Older people are especially vulnerable to mouth problems. Providing effective mouth care can, · Improve quality of life, Reduce admission rates to hospital with chest infections, Improve nutrition hydration intake, Reduce risk of behavioural changes due to pain within dementia patients, Improve overall wellbeing and dignity, Make a resident's last days of life more comfortable.
