There will also be some key information related to the analogue switch off of our telephone network and how this will affect security systems. There will be technical information related to the standards, the grading and classifications used for signalling. Finally there is important information about ECHO and how this will be used to send effective and efficient signalling to police.

The requirements to obtain a Systems Operative ECS Card have changed and you are now required to complete an ECS Fire Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) multiple-choice assessment and ECS H&S assessment to achieve the card. To support this SfS is offering a one-day online training course that aims to upskill engineers so they are ready to take the online multiple-choice FESS assessment. As part of this, the Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) industry has identified four occupations for a FESS Systems Operative in Fire Systems, Fire and Security Systems, Security Systems and Fire and Emergency Systems. This course will help prepare you to pass your ECS Health and Safety and FESS ONLINE Multiple choice assessment.

You will learn about the role of a fire risk assessor and what is competency in relation to fire risk assessing. You will cover the fire alarm design, installation and maintenance standards and the design classification for designing fire alarm systems, including the differences between, the siting of detectors to meet regulations, zoning both conventional and addressable fire alarm systems and the relevant standards for audible and visual warning devices.
