An Introduction to Whole School Approaches to Mental Health and Wellbeing

This online training session supports attendees to understand the term young carer and relevant legislation relating to young carers. The session encourages attendees to consider caring responsibilities and the possible impacts of these, as well as the potential identifiers of young carers, including factors which may make a young carer ‘hidden’. Attendees will develop an awareness of how to identify and support young carers in school. The latter part introduces attendees to The Children’s Society’s Young Carers in Schools Award. This session is targeted at staff working in schools, as well as those who work broadly across the education sector.

Interactive online training for education practitioners to understand widening participation and how, by participating in the agenda, we can help students in school and beyond to overcome barriers to higher education.&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp,BY JOINING THE SESSION YOU WILL,&nbsp,• Understand what widening participation is, which students it involves and the relevance to schools&nbsp,• Identify the common barriers that underrepresented groups face in accessing and progressing onto higher education&nbsp,• Explore the support on offer from higher education institutions to address the gap in progression&nbsp,• Begin to plan how you and your school can help widen access to higher education for your students

This online training session supports attendees to understand what the term ‘Service child’ means and how to identify Service children. It introduces attendees to the barriers which Service children can face and also to the value and diversity they can bring to a school. The latter part of the session introduces attendees to the SCiP Alliance’s Thriving Lives Toolkit and how to apply this to a school to enhance support for Service children. The session is targeted at staff working in secondary schools, but is also open to staff who work more broadly across the education sector.

This training introduces attendees to the Academic Resilience Approach (ARA) providing an overview of what we mean by mental health and wellbeing, and how they link to the development of resilience. Attendees learn that the ARA is evidence based and has developed in response to wide ranging research into the concept of resilience. The training covers how the approach can be implemented in a school/college.

This training provides professionals with knowledge to support discussions with young people about their educational choices. Professionals who engage in this workshop will be able to better support students who are considering their next steps for post 16/18 study. The training covers the following areas, An Overview of Level 3 and 4 Pathways - Introducing the array of different options available to young people aged 16+. The Apprenticeship Pathway - Covering the different levels and types available how to find apprenticeships the application process and more. The University Pathway - Covering the application process admissions student finance and support available.

This online training session supports attendees to understand what an apprenticeship is, the different levels of apprenticeships and their equivalent qualifications, barriers for students applying to apprenticeships and the different pathways available to students via apprenticeship study. Delegates will also learn how to support students in the application process for apprenticeships considering key barriers that may affect students, particularly from underrepresented groups, in applying and succeeding in apprenticeships. The session is targeted at staff working in schools and colleges but is also useful to those working broadly across the education sector.
