Infection Control in Educational Settings

This course is designed to give staff in educational settings, who have volunteered to be named medication administrators, an overview of the key aspects of practice.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can have an incredibly damaging long-term impact on children’s future prospects and mental and physical health. Traumatic events can create high levels of toxic stress, which, if prolonged and persistent, can impact brain development and functioning.

One of the significant changes to Keeping Children Safe in Education in 2022 was that DSLs should be aware of the requirement for children to have an ‘Appropriate Adult’ when necessary. The role of the ‘Appropriate Adult’ is to safeguard the interests, rights, entitlements and welfare of children and vulnerable people suspected of a criminal offence. The course provides an understanding of the expectations and principles of this role, the steps to take when involving the police in pupil searches together with information on less invasive searches, strip searches and intimate searches.

Legislation and statutory guidance plays an important role in determining best safeguarding practice. From September 2018 all staff in schools, academies and colleges are required to meet the revised 'Keeping children safe in education 2018' (KCSIE) and 'Working together to safeguard children 2018' and further statutory revised guidance documents as a minimum practice standard. By completing this course (which examines all the key legislative requirements in detail) staff will be fully updated on the new and revised standards, reassuring governance and leadership that practice is secure. Participants will also complete a case study to test the application of learning into practice.

This First Aid Basics in an Educational setting is created in line with national guidance to give all members of staff a basic knowledge of first aid to react if required. The course covers scenarios that may occur in an educational setting and highlights the most appropriate course of action in each case, giving all staff the confidence to react if required. The course uses engaging video and 3D animation to demonstrate current best practice in each scenario.

The aim of this product is to support educators in identifying and controlling the risks associated with the procurement or production of food as part of curricular activities such as food technology classes or through extracurricular activities such as cake sales, school fetes and similar events. In addition, it will assist in lesson planning for practical lessons handling uncooked products of animal origin such as biology dissections.

The Forced Marriage awareness training course is designed to ensure all professionals working within statutory agencies are aware of their responsibilities and obligations in relation to 'Forced Marriage' and have a clear understanding of how this area impacts on the Child Protection remit.

The aim is having international consistency around data protection laws and rights and to protecting individual’s personal data across Europe. As schools and academies generate and retain sensitive personal data, it is essential GDPR compliance requirements are met. Whilst there are similarities with the existing UK Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), this new legal framework updates requirements introduces clear laws with safeguards in place for the growing reliance on digital mediums.
