About the CPD Course

This course provides an understanding of industrial high and low voltage power systems including safe operation on a wide range of power equipment. It enables candidates to perform advanced HV switching operations on industrial HV networks up to and including 33kV (please see course dates for further info). This prepares them for HV authorisation in accordance with their company's safety rules/regulations. It includes both classroom theory and practical exercises. Upon completion, candidates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for switching and issuing documents for work on all types of circuit.

This course is designed for personnel who have a basic level of electrical knowledge who are required to carry out restricted HV switching operations with limited safety document issuing responsibilities up to and including 15kV. Candidates will be assessed to a suitable level for switching and issuing of documents for work on single ended circuits only.

S10 33kV Upgrade Course

The Faraday Centre

This course is designed for personnel who have previous authorisation up to 15kV, who wish to extend their authorisation level to enable them to operate on (indoor) 33kV systems. The course focuses on the practical element of switching and is predominantly workshop based. This course should be undertaken as an augmentation to the S4 (or similar) full authorisation course.

The course is designed to enable candidates to perform HV switching operations on industrial HV networks up to and including 15kV to prepare them for HV authorisation in accordance with their companies' safety rules/regulations.

S3 Refresher Training in the Safe Operation of High Voltage Power Systems (Limited High Voltage Authorisation)

This course is a refresher programme designed for personnel who have limited high voltage authorisation restricted to switching operations and issuing documents for work on single end drive circuits only. It includes both classroom theory and practical exercises. Upon completion, candidates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for an authorised person (AP) switching and issuing documents for work on single end circuits only.
