Aga Khan Foundation | The Learning Hub - CPD Member Case Study

We have been asking our members from across the industries the reasons why they became a CPD provider. This CPD Member case study was provided by Aga Khan Foundation - The Learning Hub. For more information, please visit their CPD Member Directory page.

Please provide us with a brief overview of your organisation. What do you do?

The Aga Khan Foundation’s Learning Hub is a global platform offering hundreds of free video-based courses and blended learning experiences in over 30 languages. Our mission is to empower communities through lifelong learning by combining local knowledge with global best practices. We aim to make learning accessible, inclusive, and impactful, ensuring learners have the tools they need to drive positive change in their communities.

Developed by practitioners for practitioners, the learning content on The Learning Hub focuses on Agriculture and Food Security, Civil Society Strengthening, Climate Resilience, Early Childhood Development, Education, Health and Nutrition, and Work and Enterprise. All our resources are SDG-aligned, offered completely free of charge as public goods, and are available anytime, anywhere, to anyone in the world.

Why did you become a CPD provider?

Becoming a CPD-accredited provider was a natural step in our commitment to delivering high-quality learning experiences. We recognised the need for a structured, evidence-based approach to improving our courses while aligning with global best practices. CPD accreditation provided us with the opportunity to receive expert feedback, refine our learning methodologies, and enhance the credibility of our courses. Ultimately, this process helped us ensure that our offerings met the highest standards of professional development.

How did you implement CPD accreditation in your organisation?

The CPD accreditation process was transformative for The Learning Hub. We worked closely with The CPD Certification Service to review and enhance our course design, delivery, and accessibility. Specific improvements included:

1.    Locking Progression on Video Modules – Ensuring learners engage fully with each segment before moving forward, promoting deeper understanding and retention.
2.    Accurately Timing Courses – Providing clear estimates of the time required to complete each course, helping learners manage their learning journey more effectively.
3.    Improving Accessibility – Making our courses more inclusive by ensuring compatibility with assistive technologies and applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
4.    Enhancing Learner Engagement – Integrating formative quizzes at strategic points to reinforce learning and enable self-assessment.

Additionally, we strengthened our feedback mechanisms by refining our surveys to gather more specific and actionable insights, ensuring continuous improvement in our courses.

How has CPD helped your organisation achieve its learning objectives?

CPD accreditation has been instrumental in elevating the quality and impact of our learning programmes. Key benefits include:

1.    Improved Learning Outcomes – Structured course progression and strategic assessments have enhanced knowledge retention and engagement.
2.    Greater Accessibility and Inclusivity – By adopting best practices in accessibility, we’ve created an even more equitable learning environment.
3.    Stronger Learner Feedback Mechanisms – Optimised surveys and targeted questions have provided us with richer insights, allowing us to make data-driven improvements.
4.    Enhanced Credibility and Trust – CPD accreditation has reinforced our reputation as a high-quality learning provider, increasing learner confidence and participation.

The CPD journey has been one of growth, reflection, and continuous improvement. By aligning with global best practices, we have not only met accreditation standards but also strengthened our commitment to delivering meaningful, inclusive, and impactful education to individuals and communities worldwide.
