The Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) was founded in 1984 by Patrick Holford with the support of twice Nobel Prize winner Dr Linus Pauling. ION is a higher education institution specialising in nutrition and lifestyle sciences education and professional training. Established for thirty-five years it is one of the most respected training bodies of its kind in Europe. We aim to create a stimulating, challenging and rewarding learning experience, through sharing a unique fusion of education, research and professional practice and inspiring our students and staff to enrich our communities. Our skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, and who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences to build our global learning community. Our flagship diploma courses educate students to become Registered Nutritional Therapists on accredited professional qualification programmes. We champion their graduates and the wider nutrition and healthcare industry with their professional CPD courses. Our nutrition clinic, food education days, magazine Optimum Nutrition and national partnerships support the public to make a positive impact on their lives with food.
