What is The CPD Delegate Certificate Service (DCS)?
When a professional has completed either a training course, webinar, educational event or other form of learning, a CPD certificate of attendance provides confirmation that the training has been completed by an individual as part of their Continuing Professional Development requirements at their professional body or association.
A CPD certificate of attendance is typically obtained from structured CPD, which is considered formal learning, and includes training courses, workshops, seminars, educational events and online eLearning programs that have been CPD accredited to conform to industry guidelines and standards.

Why is a CPD certificate of attendance important?
A CPD certificate is important as it helps a professional body ensure that an individual has completed an appropriate level of further learning, and they are improving their capabilities in a structured, practical and relevant way for their role and industry.
There is an increasing expectation for professionals to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) regardless of industry sector, career level, job role and responsibilities. With over 30 years’ experience, The CPD Certification Service helps organisations to formalise training and events suitable for CPD accreditation.
Organisations wishing to become CPD accredited can display their commitment through membership with The CPD Certification Service. Thousands of training courses, events, e-learning programs, conferences, workshops and seminars are formally CPD accredited by us every year adding significant value for audiences and providers.
How does The Delegate Certificate Service (DCS) work?
The Delegate Certificate Service (DCS) has been designed to provide support with issuing CPD Certificates, helping to significantly save on both the time and cost of post-training admin.
The Delegate Certificate Service is an additional benefit available to all members of The CPD Certification Service at no extra cost. We currently issue over 500,000+ CPD delegate certificates on behalf of our members each year.
Once a certified training course or event has taken place, you provide us with the attendee details and training information. We can then issue your delegates with a digitally verified CPD certificate of attendance via the myCPD Portal, displaying the relevant training details and CPD hours.
CPD certificates feature our recognised 'CPD Certified' trademark, providing confirmation of an individual's undertaken training and can be used towards their annual Continuing Professional Development obligations.
How do I get started?
You can submit your certificate requests directly to our CPD Certificates Team for review and approval. Using The Delegate Certificate Service is a very simple 3 step process.
What are CPD points, hours and credits?
With the increasing number of professional bodies in the UK and their varying annual requirements of Continuing Professional Development, a natural split in common language terms and expression has arisen.
How do CPD points and credits relate to CPD Hours?
Different professional bodies use the terms 'CPD hours', ‘CPD points’, ‘units’ or ‘credits’ depending on preference, typically for historical reasons when initially implementing their Continuing Professional Development policy, rather than from any modern day strategic perspective. It is considered across all industries that CPD points, units and credits all relate to the same thing, CPD Hours.
What are CPD Hours?
The definition of CPD Hours is the time spent for a delegate to be in “active learning”. Active learning defines the actual time spent learning something relevant for their Continuing Professional Development objectives. A great example of this would be 1-day accredited CPD training course. If the training starts at 9 am and ends at 5 pm, with a 1-hour break for lunch, the CPD Hours would be 7 CPD Hours.
