CPI’s Breaking Up Fights™, Intervention Skills Training provides staff with the skills to prevent fights, assess risk and respond with appropriate interventions. Part 1 covers the theory element of how staff can best prepare themselves before, during and after a fight incident. This section will remove ambiguity around staff responsibilities, improve risk assessment and decision-making to reduce repercussions and upskill staff with evidence-based preventative methods. Part 2 contains the programme’s physical skills. Staff will learn the key principles of physical intervention and the six essential skills to maximise safety and minimise harm to all involved.

This training will provide a common framework about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, a best abilities perspective, and care techniques to promote best abilities at every stage of dementia. If you work with people who have Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias and are responsible for their care, this will likely be the most valuable, practical learning you have had. It will give you a framework you can return to continuously to address different situations and build expertise in Dementia Capable Care.

An online training programme called ‘Prevention First’. The training is designed specifically for all healthcare staff - from front desk workers to GPs. The four-part training provides staff with the skills to understand how to identify escalating behaviours, establish a common language across departments and recognise when to call for additional help. This interactive programme contains unique video scenarios that helps illustrate appropriate staff responses that may help to de-escalate crisis situations. Key elements include, What’s behind the behaviour, Identifying escalating behaviour and appropriate staff responses, Self-regulation strategies, Course assessment. This programme meets the NHS Conflict Resolution Learning Outcomes.

CPI Safety Intervention Advanced programme is designed for organisations that support individuals who are more likely to demonstrate more complex or extreme risk behaviours. It provides effective tools and decision-making skills to help staff manage higher risk situations, offering a wider array of verbal and physical intervention options. CPI Safety Intervention Advanced and Emergency programme includes the content of the Advanced Programme, and has an explicit focus on safety intervention for extreme risk behaviour, where other emergency interventions, such as emergency floor holding, rapid tranquilisation, and seclusion, may be required. This Train the Trainer (instructor) programme trains professionals in health, education and social care settings to onward train colleagues in identifying behaviour that indicates an escalation toward aggressive and/or distressed behaviour, assessing the risk of those behaviours on the person, the staff and others and responding appropriately. The Safety Pod™ Training Programme is a Safety Pod International-approved course providing staff with the skills and confidence to safely use the Safety Pod™ for both preventative strategies and crisis intervention. It promotes trauma-informed, person-centred approaches aligned to the philosophy of Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠. Staff learn how the Safety Pod’s robust yet comfortable design reduces risk during crisis behaviour, supporting efforts to minimise or eliminate restrictive practices.
