We have been asking our members from across the industries the reasons why they became a CPD provider. This CPD Member case study was provided by Emma Martin, Trainer and Tutor at Emma Martin Training. For more information, please visit their CPD Member Directory page.
Please provide us with a brief overview of your organisation. What do you do?
Emma Martin Training provides practical, person-centred autism training and professional development for organisations and individuals working with autistic people. Drawing on almost 30 years of personal and professional experience of autism, my training aims to move beyond basic awareness, helping professionals develop a deeper understanding of autism and gain practical strategies they can apply in their everyday practice. I deliver CPD-accredited workshops alongside tailored training and support for professionals, families and community organisations.
Why did you become a CPD provider?
I became a CPD provider because I wanted to share practical, evidence-informed autism knowledge with professionals in a structured way. With almost 30 years of personal and professional experience of autism, I have seen how much difference the right understanding and practical strategies can make. I wanted my training to go beyond basic awareness and give professionals the confidence, knowledge and practical tools to better support autistic people in real life everyday situations.
How did you implement CPD accreditation in your organisation?
I developed my autism training into a structured CPD-accredited workshop, ensuring that the content, learning objectives and delivery met CPD accreditation criteria. The workshop combines information, discussion, practical activities, videos, reflection and opportunities for participants to consider how the learning applies to their own practice. I also introduced appropriate evaluation and feedback processes so that the training can continue to develop and improve.
How has using CPD helped your organisation achieve its learning objectives?
CPD accreditation has given my training a clear structure and framework, helping me to ensure that each session has meaningful learning objectives and a clear focus on professional development. It also provides participants with evidence of their learning. Most importantly, it supports my aim of moving beyond simply increasing autism awareness and towards practical understanding, reflection and strategies that professionals can apply in their everyday work.
