IFRS Lab - CPD Member Case Study

We have been asking our members from across the industries the reasons why they became a CPD provider. This CPD Member case study was provided by IFRS Lab. For more information, please visit their CPD Member Directory page.

Please provide us with a brief overview of your organisation. What do you do?

IFRS Lab is an ESG advisory and training institution committed to advancing sustainability. We equip professionals and organizations with in-depth knowledge of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. Our training focuses on developing skills to navigate ESG complexities, enhance compliance, and foster leadership in sustainability practices. With experience across different regions, IFRS Lab empowers individuals and businesses to contribute to a sustainable future.

Why did you become a CPD provider?

We saw a growing need for structured, practical, and ongoing learning in ESG and sustainability. As an ESG advisory and training institution, becoming a CPD provider was a natural step to formalize our commitment to professional development. We believe that ESG is not just a compliance requirement but a leadership responsibility. By offering CPD-certified training, we help professionals stay current, sharpen their skills, and demonstrate their commitment to responsible business practices. Our goal is to ensure that individuals and organizations across the region have access to high-quality, recognized learning that supports both compliance and long-term sustainability goals.

How did you implement CPD accreditation in your organisation?

Implementing CPD accreditation at IFRS Lab was a structured process driven by our commitment to quality learning in ESG and sustainability. Here's how we approached it:

Identifying the Need

We recognized that professionals needed certified, credible training to build ESG competencies. CPD accreditation was the right framework to ensure our courses met global standards for Continuing Professional Development.

Course Design and Alignment

We reviewed our existing ESG training content and redesigned it to meet CPD standards. This included clear learning outcomes, structured modules, assessment tools, and post-training feedback mechanisms.

Accreditation Application

We worked closely with a recognized CPD certification body to submit our course materials, trainer profiles, and delivery methods for approval. Their review ensured we met the expected educational and professional benchmarks.

Internal Systems and Quality Control

We developed internal processes for tracking attendance, issuing certificates, maintaining records, and collecting learner feedback. This ensures each course remains up to date and aligned with real-world ESG developments.

Trainer Development

We trained our facilitators not only in ESG content but also in adult learning principles and CPD delivery standards, ensuring a consistent and professional learner experience.

How has CPD helped your organisation achieve its learning objectives?

CPD accreditation has added real structure and impact to how we deliver ESG training. It has helped us improve course design, clarify outcomes, and provide a more consistent experience for learners.

1. Structured Course Development: CPD gave us a clear framework to work within. Each course now includes defined learning objectives, a well-sequenced content outline, practical activities, and assessments that test understanding. This ensures that our training is not just informative but also actionable.

2. Lesson Plan Alignment: The CPD process required detailed lesson plans. We had to be specific about what would be taught, how it would be delivered, and how learning would be measured. Each plan now outlines the session purpose, content breakdown, delivery method, and follow-up tasks. This has helped us sharpen our focus and make every session more meaningful.

3. Hands-on Guidance During Approval: Our CPD accreditor provided direct and helpful support throughout the process. They reviewed our materials, advised us on improvements, and offered feedback on how to structure our content. From helping us phrase our learning outcomes correctly to suggesting ways to track participant progress, the guidance was clear and practical.

4. Quality Control and Record Keeping: We implemented systems to track attendance, gather feedback, issue certificates, and keep records in line with CPD standards. This has improved how we evaluate our training and respond to learner needs.

5. Better Learner Experience: Since adopting CPD, participants have noted a clearer sense of direction in our courses. They value the structure, the focus on real-world application, and the professional recognition that comes with CPD-accredited learning.
