About the CPD Course

This two-day course is aimed at nurses and physiotherapists who wish to develop skills in the assessment and initial treatment of patients with lower bowel dysfunction. The practical session will also equip participants with skills to assess pelvic floor muscle function in male patients with bladder dysfunction. Participants are taught the theory supporting the assessment of lower bowel dysfunction and gain practical experience in the clinical assessment of anorectal function via an abdominal and anorectal examination. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience the ‘patient’s’ perspective and are invited to act as ‘patient models’ during the practical sessions.&nbsp,

This two-day course is aimed at practitioners wishing to expand their treatment skills for adult pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. The course will enable participants to understand the theory and practice of biofeedback and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) in the treatment of adult male and female pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. The practical elements give the opportunity for consenting participants to experience the use of EMG biofeedback and NMES in classroom based practical sessions. It is recommended that either the female pelvic floor or anorectal practical assessment course is attended prior to attending this course, although this is not mandatory.
