This introductory 1,5 day course is suitable for nurses and physiotherapists new to the speciality and those wishing to update their practical assessment skills, Held in a clinical environment to gain practical experience in the digital assessment of pelvic floor muscle function Theory of anatomy/physiology of the pelvic floor complex Objective assessment of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction Demonstrations of biofeedback including EMG and dynamic ultrasound Clinician and Patient role models during a practical examination session Each participant to carry out at least one digital vaginal assessment Valid consent procedures adhered to according to DoH guidelines

This two-day course is aimed at practitioners wishing to expand their treatment skills for adult pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. The course will enable participants to understand the theory and practice of biofeedback and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) in the treatment of adult male and female pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. The practical elements give the opportunity for consenting participants to experience the use of EMG biofeedback and NMES in classroom based practical sessions. It is recommended that either the female pelvic floor or anorectal practical assessment course is attended prior to attending this course, although this is not mandatory.
