This practical workshop focuses on understanding bias and the affect that this has on effective educational supervision. Delegates will work through case studies and discuss scenarios where bias could be detrimental to the education of the junior doctor and how this is rectified. This interactive session provides supervisors with an overview of the key mental health and wellbeing problems that may arise for trainees, such as depression and anxiety, chronic stress and being at risk of burnout. It will also explore how personality traits can impact a doctor's wellbeing and progress through training. Through case- based exercises Supervisors will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect upon their roles as well as refresh their skills and practice having conversations around mental health.

This program is designed for NHS professionals stepping into the role of case investigator, equipping them with essential skills for investigating performance concerns. This programme provides an overview of neurodiverse conditions and their manifestations in behaviour. It explores ways in which supervisors might recognise those behaviours and support staff members who may or may not be aware of conditions that could be causing difficulties in the workplace.
