This course takes the activity of pogo stick riding and develops a mind-set for primary and secondary teachers to positively impact children's wellbeing through curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities. This is relevant for people responsible for, or interested in delivering physical education and physical activity in schools. Alongside techniques and practical aspects of pogo, participants will develop links between mental wellbeing, mindfulness and active engagement, thus promoting the recognition of alternative physical activity, which fosters positive communities. Participants will have the opportunity for on-going support and involvement in future events such as Guinness Book of World record attempt, July 2021 (tbc).

This workshop series aims to support school-based teacher educators develop their application of research literature to their mentoring practices. Through an exploration of current research, models of application and reflection on working with trainees and/or early career teachers, mentors will be given the opportunity to consider how to best support their mentee’s professional learning in an authentic way.

This webinar explores, The purpose of assessment and how to plan for this effectively. The importance of the feedback loop. The challenges of planning for assessment. Strategies to plan for assessment that are meaningful for students and reduces workload. It will support and compliment in-school ECT and CPD programs, focusing on Teachers’ Standard 6 ‘make accurate and productive use of assessment’.

The End of Life Companion training course aims to provide knowledge and understanding about death and dying, and to develop companioning skills in individuals volunteering to be alongside others as they approach the end of their lives. The training prepares individuals to provide compassionate support and accompaniment to people who are dying, and their families, in different settings such as hospitals, hospices and in the community.

Professor Anna Lise Gordon (Co-Director Centre for Wellbeing in Education) explores the importance of professional learning at the heart of your wellbeing as an ECT. Expert colleagues also share experiences of the impact of professional learning on their careers. Research about professional wellbeing is closely linked to professional development / professional learning throughout the different stages on our journeys as teachers. The importance of professional satisfaction in teaching often lies in the ways we keep on learning, so professional development is important. Teacher wellbeing matters because it has an impact on the children and young people we teach.

This short course will provide clear definitions and understanding of stalking, relationship abuse and coercive control. The course will equip professionals with the knowledge and understanding to engage with individuals about these topics, on a supportive and helpful basis.
